STUDY ISLAM - Fasting is a pure worship of Allah Almighty God, and not associated with others. Therefore, in a Hadith Qudsi mentioned that, Allah Almighty God himself would later give reward to those who perform the fasting.
In a form of worship, others people can be a witness. Unlike fasting, no one can ascertain whether someone does fasting or not. This is so special about fasting, can not physically known. Compare with shalah (prayers), everyone can see when one's shalah, as well as the Hajj, all neighbors know if someone perform the Hajj. While fasting? even the closest neighbors were may not be aware if someone is doing fasting.
Fasting is really a test for every person who run it, the extent of one's faith in Allah Almighty, the extent of one's sincerity to do worship to Allah Almighty God. Because fasting should be based on the faith, and also must have the feeling that there is a Supreme Essence Oversees who always pay attention to our every movement. So is the consequence, if the ethics of fasting that is holding all break the fast is violated without udzur/reason justified by the Shari'ah, then he himself will suffer the consequences.
How great the sin due to leave this fast. It is not enough to fast for one year to redeem the errors caused by the willful negligence. Any deeds which was threatened with a grave sin, then it surely will get a greater reward if we are able to comply.
If we analyzed, during ordinary days, when we eat and drink, would feel special if they're eating and drinking expensive or eat in a famous restaurants. However, when breaking the fast, the usual food and beverages we eat and drink will taste very special, no need to go to a famous restaurant or to pay dearly. Even a sip of water and a date was so good.
Fasting teaches everyone to be grateful and content with what which currently owned. Fasting also teaches everyone to always care and love people which are less fortunate. Because when fasting, a person understand the hunger that is felt by the poor, and understand how meaningful a sip of water and a bite of food for the poor.
This only a brief study about fasting Ramadan, when physical health and longevity is still given to meet the holy month of Ramadan, then go on a fast, and Allah the Almighty God will open heaven ar-Rayyan for all of us.

From Abu Hurairah RA he said, Rasulullah (pbuh) said: "Those who break the fast (not fast) a day during Ramadan without any excuse or illness, all fasting which done over a year can not pay for it".
