Study Islam About God

STUDY ISLAM - After knowing the existence of god, as previously described here, knowing God is the following smart step towards the true faith. How do I know God? How to know God is by studying His Words that has been revealed to the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), namely the Holy Qur'an or Al-Qur'anul Karim.

With a firm and clear, Al Qur'an describes the actual descriptions of the god, that is found in surah al-Ikhlas chapter 112 verses 1-4, which says:
1. say: He is Allah, the one and Only;
2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
3. He begets not, nor was He begotten;
4. And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.
[Q.S al-Ikhlas 112:1-4]
This is a 4-line definition of Allah SWT, Almighty God given in the Qur'an. If any person says so and so candidate is God, if that candidate fits in this 4-line definition, Muslims have got no objection in accepting that candidate as God.

Naturally, everyone will be submissive and obedient to something or someone beyond themselves. for example, a soldier would obey the generals because the general has a position, experience and expertise higher than the soldier. soldiers feels that he does not have a quality comparable to the general. It's just a small example, but the next quetion is, "how to get an obedience beyond a soldier's obedience to the generals?" Because, obedience to God encompasses all aspects of life. Surely, God must be more great, much stronger, more powerful and more than anything.

First line in the Surah Al-Ikhlas says: "say: He is Allah, the One and Only". There is only one Allah, no second or even third Allah. He is the only one. If you want to worship God, that God must be second to none. if God is more than one, may get you confused. And would be very difficult to arrange the worship, because if god is more than one, you must be fair to your Gods, and would make the Gods jealous if you worship one God is better than any other God. In the end, would make the Gods fight each other to get more attention and worship. ah very chaotic and confusing, and of course, out of logic and reasonable.

The second line of Surah Al-Ikhlas says: "Allah, the Eternal, Absolute". No doubt about it, Allah should be eternal and absolute. God does not need anything, God does not need us, on the contrary, it is we who need God. All obligations and restrictions that God commanded to the mankind, not for the sake of God, but to mankind itself. If God needs something, it means he does not deserve to be a God. For example, if God needs us to worship Him, then we can threaten the God. we can say "oh God, grant me my prayers and put me into heaven, if not, I'll stop worshiped thee!". Oh man, Allah not that weak, Allah is absolute and eternal.

The third line says: "He begets not, nor was He begotten". Look at the beauty of language in Holy Qur'an, on this third verses, it is supported by two previous verses. if God give birth, it means that God is not the only one, because, if the God have children means that there is something that resembles Him. And if god was begotten, it means that god is not absolute, not eternal, because God needed something to give birth Himself. And of course, it means that God must be obedient to those who gave it birth.

The final verses of Surah Al-Ikhlas says: "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him". This is what makes anyone give up trying to become a God. Yes, God can not be compared with anything in this world, even in this universe. If you can imagine or compare God with something, then it's not a god. If God a thousand times smarter than Einstein, then it is not God. Either a thousand or a million times, as long as you can compare God with something or anything, then it's not a God.

In conclusion, if there is a candidate who meets all four criteria of God as it has been explained in Surah Al-Ikhlas, I think, everyone have got no objection in accepting that candidate as God. And as far as I know, only Allah Subhanallahu Wa Ta'ala who meets all that criteria.
